The City of Sofia

The capital of Bulgaria was founded three thousand years ago by an ancient Thracian tribe, the ‘Serdi’, and known as Serdica until the beginning of the Ninth Century. Thracian and Roman remnants of great cultural and archeological value can be seen throughout the city centre.

The side streets and century-old commercial quarter reveal the true magic of Sofia – a very European city of tree-lined boulevards and balconied buildings by 19th-century Russian and Viennese architects. Most of these have recently been restored under the “Beautiful Bulgaria” project and are tourist sites.

The city provides exciting shopping and leisure opportunities. Today Sofia has become a modern business, trade and fair centre.

Offering a wide variety of quality and value for money restaurants and cafes, combined with a unique atmosphere you will be sure to enjoy your stay in Sofia.

The city’s motto, ‘Evergrowing, never old’, is as true today as it ever was.

We strongly recommend our guests to only utilize OK Supertrans Taxi services and to check the published tariff before taking a taxi from the airport if they are not using the hotel shuttle.
