It is with great pleasure and excitement that we wish to announce the start of a large-scale renovation project in order to become the latest generation luxury 5-star Crowne Plaza® hotel. In an effort to be ready to greet you in our renovated hotel, we ceased operations on 1 October 2022 while the estimated opening date for Crowne Plaza® Sofia is set for early autumn 2023.
On behalf of the whole group, and myself specifically, I would like to thank you for the hospitality and professionalism. The event was a thorough success and met all our needs and expectations, which keeps Holiday Inn Sofia at the top of the list of choices for venues in similar occasions.
I think is one of the best HI I’ve staid in. Great staff and location, really good breakfast and one of the best fitness rooms I have ever seen in a hotel. Didn’t had the oportunity to use the swiming pool but it looked really nice and clean. For sure for my next visits in Sofia I will use this hotel.
Sometimes words are not enough to describe experience you’ve had. This is the case with our wedding party at Holiday Inn. We just can’t ask for a better service and attitude. The staff made everything they can and everything they had to, in order to make our time as good as possible. And it definitely was! Thank you, team! 🙂
My husband and I stayed at this hotel with our 4 young-adults-children for 5 days. Everything was spotless. Airco and Internet worked properly. After spending a full day walking in the city, or visiting the caves, it was nice to sit down all together at the terrace of the Hotel to have some drinks. We all felt very safe in this area. Personnel is very kind and attentive. Recommendable 100%.
I am a fan of IHG hotels anyway but this has to be one of the best, if not THE best, that I have ever been in. The hotel is clean and spacious. The staff are incredibly friendly and nothing is too much trouble. There is a superb range of facilities and it is right on the Business Park and close to the Metro so what else do you need for a business trip?. I doubt that I will come back to Sofia which is a shame as this is one hotel I would like to return to time and time again.
Once again a great stay. It’s a lovely hotel and the experience is multiplied many fold by the quality and attitude of the staff, they’re a credit to IHG. Culturally, Bulgarians can appear to be a little “different” to Western Europeans, but that’s not evident here, great welcome with a smile, always willing to engage in a conversation, and great selection of language skills. Good breakfast with petty of choice, and lovely terrace outside on a warm morning. Pool is great too!
To describe the Hotel, I’d be using only superlatives. The room is spacious and cosy, well decorated. The dark color of furniture gives kind of luxury feeling and really love light in the wardrobe. Bathroom looks new and bathtub and shower are available separately as you would be expecting from 5 starts hotel. Stuffs were extremely friendly and after few days, they remember you (especially your preferences for breakfast). That is appreciated, because the service they provide is not standardised, but personalised.
We stayed at Holiday Inn Sofia for 3 nights on 14th April 2017 with my family in a family room. The staff were very helpful and polite. The Beds and room were excellent . We had our dinner all the day during our stay in hotel and were very pleased with the quality of food and service provided. Hotel is value for money for sure. It is near to metro train station and big shopping mall too. The view of Vitosha mountain from our room was excellent. We will diffidently stay again at this hotel whenever visit Sofia again.
2 night stay in October 2016 and hotel did not disappoint. Stayed here before for business trips and location is ideal. Airport shuttle service is invaluable after previous poor experience with taxi companies, reception staff are warm and welcoming, and rooms have everything you need. Breakfast is a great choice and room service is better than the norm at other chains. As a female traveller I felt safe and secure in the hotel and surrounding area. I would definitely recommend and close enough to city centre for tourists as well.
The event was excellent, colleagues and I are very pleased. Guests also greatly praised the event and the cocktail. We had enough room for guest registration, equipment and translators were at a high level. The girls were great, I promised them we would book them another time, they did a great job. I have already received the photographs from the photographer, and he has also made a lot of effort. All your colleagues who were in place – the host, the women at the wardrobe, the waiters, the F&B Manager – they immediately responded to everything I asked them to do. The cocktail was on a high level, what I finally managed to try was very tasty. That’s what we all imagined, and it came true.

Thanks for the support and patience from the first moment we came to look at the restaurant – in October 2016, to the last one – where we were happy on the day after the wedding – June 18, 2017. Your whole team is great and at a very high level – the waiters who served tirelessly with smiles and great mood, the girls at the reception, the boys who helped for our endless luggage, the maid who greeted us in the hall the next day and we are sure – all the others we have not met personally but were part of the team preparing our wedding day and made sure everything went in the best way. We can not miss to thank especially to the person with whom we communicated all the time and who took care of our peace and confidence that everything will go great- the Sales Manager, thank you for your patience, for the help, for the time – for everything !
I had the pleasure of staying in your hotel for 2 nights for a conference on the 8th of June. I just wanted to say thank you to your wonderful team who really made my stay fantastic. I unfortunately did not note down everyone names but my check in was perfect. The gentleman there processed everything quickly, he asked how was my journey and if it was my first time in Sofia and when I said it was, he suggested a few things for me to do if I had time. I used your gym and spa as well. There was sufficient equipment there for me to have a really good workout. I also booked a massage in the spa reception and that went smoothly. The therapist was simply amazing!!! I can honestly say that I felt like a boiled spaghetti when we finished. All the tension from the flight was gone. Breakfast was delicious and I thought the chef preparing my omelette was great. He gave me a big smile and said good morning and made the best cheese and ham omelette. The team in the hotel is doing a Fantastic job to make me feel really welcomed!
Just returned from a 2 night stay at this excellent hotel. We arrived from Sofia airport by Taxi which costs about 11 Lev ( about £5) . We liked the location and there is a metro station about 5 minutes walk away. Check in was smooth and we were given room 329 on the third floor with views over the lake. The room was spacious as was the bathroom which had a large bath as well as a separate shower cubicle. Bed was comfy, choice of pillows. There was a mini bar and safe. Everything was was very clean and housekeeping do a good job. Reception staff were all very pleasant and spoke good English. We did use the gym and pool and sauna in the Esprit spa area and facilities were excellent. We used the metro (1.6 Lev per journey, about 75p) and taxi’s to get around and both are very good value. There is also a free shuttle bus from the nearby metro station to the nearest shopping mall The Sofia Ring mall about 5 minutes by bus. This was our first visit to Sofia and we really enjoyed it. I would be happy to stay here again if we return.
The hotel is well located about 15 mins from the airport and just off the ring road. There is a cinema complex with a couple of restaurants next door. Parking is in an underground car park which we were guided to by the helpful security guard. Check in was friendly, efficient and polite. Our room was on 5th floor and was a good size with lots of storage and a good sized desk to work at. There was decent complimentary wifi too. The gym was excellent – a good mix of machines, helpful staff and plenty of space. Also there was no intrusive music playing, like so many gyms! We didn’t try the pool or spa but both looked very good. Room service was quick and good sized portions. The food was nice and good value for money. Breakfast was extremely good, one of the best hotel breakfasts i have had. Staff were, again, polite, friendly and helpful. The food selection was excellent and it was impeccably presented. All in all this hotel was exceptionally good – an example to other Holiday Inn’s of what can be achieved with the right people and attitude.
Great customer service – friendly staff, connecting with the guests, keeping in mind personal preferences and always ready to help and provide aditional information. Elegant setting – live piano music in some evenings, ample repertoire and charismatic pianist. Business facilities – everything you need for a mobile office, from hi-tech services to conference rooms and private business meeting locations. Fitness&spa – the gym has all it needs to sustain both functional and cardio trainings, the spa provides opportunities to work&relax (swimming pool, indoor and outdoor jacuzzi, different sauna rooms, professional massage). Panoramic view towards the mountains. Cuisine – rich collection of breakfast options (allowing all sorts of protein-carbs-fat combinations, even for people on diets), classy bistro open day-long (serving drinks and light meals) Room interiors – black – white – bordo – chromatic pattern, elegant style Room facilities – minibar, collection of hot beverages (local cocoa based drink, selection of teas and coffee), ac, spacious bathroom (shower and bath, personal care items on the house). The staff remembers you from one visit to another, making the place very warm and hospitable, to come by, again.
We keep coming back to this hotel whenever we’re in Sofia – which generally happens about twice a year. There are good reasons for this. The last time was for two separate nights about 5 days apart in August 2016. The first thing to say (and as I mentioned in my last review of this hotel) is that the location has now become very much more accessible, since the Sofia Metro is now extended both to the airport and to the Business Park where the hotel is located. The Metro provides quick and cheap transport to pretty much anywhere you might be likely to go within Sofia itself. The real reason I wanted to write another review was as follows. I don’t know what’s happened to the staff at this hotel but all three of us staying here were really very impressed with the greeting we had at reception, the easy-going friendliness of the staff at breakfast, and – since we used it for the first time this time round – the quality of the swimming pool and its adjoining facilities. The hotel seems to be getting the right people for the job and this really shows in how the staff relate to the guests. I can’t say anything new that I haven’t already written about this hotel. Our rooms were spotlessly clean, and were perfectly comfortable and with easily the best bathrooms we’ve seen in Bulgaria. The breakfast was as good, rich and varied as ever. You could probably survive a whole day just on the breakfast alone. We used the swimming pool for the first time on this visit, and it’s really good: long enough for serious swimming and big enough just for relaxing. There is also a jacuzzi at the poolside. The changing facilities are excellent; you can put your belongings in a locked for safe keeping. I have no doubt at all that we will be back, and indeed we’re looking forward to it.
